Progress!
Here’s an updated shot from the Castro project – very exciting to have the framing, electrical and plumbing done, and now that sheetrock is up you can really see the space taking shape. The new hardwood floors are going in too!

When specifying lighting for clients, I always try to provide a high-efficacy option. Like many others, I don’t care for CFLs, so I’m looking at LEDs. The challenge is that many LED fixtures aren’t bright enough for some applications, so I have to go back and compare watts to lumens to make sure it’s appropriate. I found this chart and I’m putting it here so I can remember how many lumens I need!

This was a fun exercise: I had been working with clients in the East Bay to update their kitchen. After all the dust settled from construction they still were unable to make a decision on the tile for the backsplash. It was a really just a difference in what each of them wanted the look to be. I provided another round of tile ideas from the images below, and they happily settled on a selection (the Oceanside Glasstile in the lower left corner). Gorgeous!

After such a good time tile shopping for my clients last week, we were able to look at the options together last night. And I couldn’t be more excited about the gorgeous choices: handcrafted tile from Walker Zanger with such variation it brings to mind shimmering water; “Eggshell” Caeasarstone counters; and for the lower cabinets, Benjamin Moore’s Knoxville Gray, a rich and timeless color that will bring wonderful visual interest to the completed design. I can’t wait for this to be installed!

Yesterday I received an email from a client after we completed the tile selection for the bathrooms in their remodel. It makes me love what I do even more! I want to share what he said:
“The way you organized your vision(s) for our bathrooms by laying out samples and pairing patterns was really great. It saved your clients (us) time and was a fun and interactive way to get really invested in the process. Also, the way that you listened to what we wanted while still steering us down a path that was consistent with the notion of the transitional Victorian home was both appreciated and handled really well. We walked away happy with our choices and confident that we were achieving the goals that we had set out with.”
Thank YOU!
This is a terrific story on Houzz – clever wall cabinets AND architecture.
I’m very excited to see the tile installation progress in the master bath that’s nearing completion. The large format Calacata Gold is from Porcelanosa and the glass accent from AKDO.

I love it when the tile installation starts – even more than framing you get to see what a space is really going to be like. Here’s the latest from the Fulton St. project – a small bath but a lot of traditional style!

Very excited about the Castro project – demolition well underway and framing starts next week!
