A ‘Lost’ John Lautner House Is Found and Restored in the NYTimes.
The second client in construction is in Los Angeles: a boring landscape is being transformed with a refurbished pool and lots of new amenities including a fire pit, outdoor shower, and lots of room for planting!
Landscape Hardscape
Not one, but two jobs have started construction – here’s the first:
In Sonoma, a small kitchen addition (only 125 square feet) takes on considerable volume as the walls go up and the ceiling is raised from 7′-10″ to 14′. Clerestory windows will bring in light and 16′ sliders will open to the garden. Perfect for wine country.
Kitchen Addition Underway

San Francisco backyards are small and often have experienced a little benign neglect. This Laurel Heights yard, measuring in at just 25′ x 28′, is a bit boxed in by the neighbors, doesn’t have a lot of light and is decidedly in need of a makeover to make it more inviting. My proposal tackles this head on! To add visual interest, it incorporates traditional European garden elements with plenty of seating, greenery, a new spa, fire pit and a dramatic water feature. Portuguese tile accents enliven the water feature; a new flagstone patio will replace the mismatched brick and low wood deck; and plantings, including a new magnolia tree, jasmine and camellias will make it feel like San Francisco. This will be a perfect location for my clients to entertain in, summer fog or sun.
